Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson hailed Posh's promotion as the greatest moment of his career.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It's the best thing I've experienced in football, without a doubt. It's a fantastic day for the club.

"I'm so pleased for the lads, so proud of them. They've been fantastic all season. We can enjoy the next two games and have a party against Darlington."

He added: "[The end of the match] was the longest five minutes of my life but we got there. We've done it with two games to go, with 89 points. I don't think you can ask for much more than that.

"A lot of credit to the chairman [Darragh MacAnthony]. He's backed me with everything I've asked for."

And Ferguson has revealed he will keep faith with the bulk of his squad next season, as Posh go for another promotion.

"We've got a group of young players who can go in from this. They've shown they've got the temperament and mentality and hopefully this will be start of something really good.

"I'll have to tinker with [my squad] a little but I've got a lot of good players in that dressing room. I know what they can give me.

"We've got a blend of youth and experience. I won't be bringing in four or five or six players, no chance."
