Darlington captain Steve Foster has urged his team-mates to relax and go into Saturday's play-off semi-final first leg with Rochdale full of belief.

"They're nervy and tense, but it's how you cope with that," he told BBC Tees.

"I've had two experiences in play-offs, one where we got knocked out in the semi-final at Bristol, and one where we won the final at Doncaster.

"I keep telling the lads, the experience is there for them to be a winner and the rewards are brilliant."

With decent weather and a ripple of excitement surrounding the play-offs, Foster is anticipating a bumper crowd at the Arena for the first of two important fixtures.

"The crowd can give you that lift, that buzz. I hope there will be a good crowd here, they will bring a few thousand and hopefully our fans will turn out," he said.

"Away at Peterborough the fans were quality, they sang all the way through and hopefully there will be a few more of them too."
