Barnsley chairman Gordon Shepherd is to step down at the end of the season.
Shepherd, who has been chairman for three-and-a-half years, made the announcement before Tuesday night's game with Hull City.
In a statement on the club's website he revealed that he intended to stand down at the end of last season but was persuaded to stay.
Shepherd joined in April 2004 as a director and became chairman following the departure of Peter Ridsdale.
He will also leave his post as director of Barnsley football club at the season's close.
During his time at Oakwell he has seen the club promoted to the Championship and reach the semi-finals of the FA cup.
