Wrexham 0-1 Doncaster
A late goal from substitute Adam Hughes at the Racecourse saw Doncaster through to the second round of the Carling Cup.

Wrexham had the visitors under pressure as goalkeeper Andy Warrington kept them in the game with saves from Darren Ferguson, Mark Jones and Jon Walters.

But the crucial moment came five minutes from time when Dave Mulligan fired in a Doncaster corner.

Wrexham twice failed to clear and it fell to Australian Hughes who blasted home a right-footer from six yards.

To compound Wrexham's problems, Dennis Lawrence pulled a muscle in the pre-match warm-up and fellow defender Shaun Pejic was carried off with ligament damage in the second half.

Both Robbie Foy and Paul Warhurst made their debuts in Wrexham's colours.
