Burton 2-1 Halifax

Burton defeated 10-man Halifax to move into the Blue Square Premier play-off zone thanks to goals from Daryl Clare and Marc Goodfellow.

Halifax's Simon Ainge was shown his second yellow card for a foul on Matt Williams before Clare converted a cross from Michael Simpson.

Goodfellow doubled Burton's lead with an exquisite 25-yard strike.

Darryn Stamp then scored a consolation for the visitors with a fine header but Halifax remain in the bottom four.
