In the lawn bowls men's pairs , there were wins for Scotland and Wales, and Northern Ireland lost to Brunei Darussalam.

In the women's pairs , there were wins for Northern Ireland, England, and Jersey beat the Isle of Man. Wales and Scotland both lost.

In the men's 62kg weightlifting , Sri Lanka claimed their first ever Commonwealth gold as Chinthana Vidnage won with his final lift.

In the women's 53kg class, Canada's Maryse Turcotte won gold ahead of Dika Toua of Papua New Guinea and Australia's Nadeene Latif taking bronze.

In the netball , England beat Malawi 63-47, while favourites Australia beat Wales 78-22.

In the men's table tennis , Wales beat Tuvalu, Sri Lanka and England. England won their two other games.

The men's Scottish basketball team started their campaign losing 129-52 to Australia.
