Classy Munroe holds off Martinez
Rendall Munroe claimed the European super bantamweight title with a superb majority points decision win over Kiko Martinez in Nottingham.

The 27-year-old binman from Leicester produced a controlled performance against the highly-rated Spaniard.

Munroe weathered some fierce punches from the champion before sealing the win 115-113, 115-113, 114-114.

He moved his record on to 14 wins and just one loss and admitted: "It's a big win, one of the best of my career."

Munroe is rapidly proving he is one of British boxing's most exciting up-and-coming ring talents.

And the English title holder added: "It was a big step, but I did what needed to be done.

"I have put a lot of hard work into this and now I have got out what I have put in.

"The plan was to stay on the outside and win the fight and that is what I have done.

"That is up there with the best performances in my career so far, but there is still plenty more to come."
