Lotto winner is in pole position
A Lincs motor racing fan is planning a world tour of Grand Prix circuits after scooping a £3.45m lottery jackpot.

Stephen Appleby, 47, is quitting his job as a machine operator to fulfil his lifelong dream of visiting every Formula 1 track.

The father-of-two from Louth also plans to be behind the wheel of a new car as soon as he has passed his driving test.

Mr Appleby said: "I had the ticket with me and when I realised my numbers had come up I could not believe it."

He found out he had the winning six numbers as he watched the Lotto draw at his home on Saturday night.

Racing calendar

Mr Appleby has been playing the Lottery every week for 10 years. The winning Lucky Dip numbers were 2, 23, 26, 30, 39 and 47.

He added: "I just caught the end of the programme and caught the result. My brother had to come around and calm me down. I was just so excited.

"Like everybody else, I have always dreamed of winning the Lottery jackpot and now it has happened, I can't believe it.

"Once it's sunk in I need to drag out my racing calendar and plan the trip of a lifetime."
